I’m still buzzing from my trip to Colorado Springs last year. I went to meet a highly successful gym owner – someone I deeply admire in the industry. And let me tell you, I invested a significant chunk of change to spend a full one-on-one day with him.
We analyzed Elite as a business, and he literally opened up his entire business to me, pulling back the curtain on everything. And you know what? In that moment, I felt incredibly vulnerable and humbled. It hit me – this is probably how many of you feel when you first come to me for a consult. You’re opening up, you’re looking for guidance, and it can be a bit daunting. So, if you’ve ever felt that way with me, trust me, I get it now more than ever.
But here’s the thing: I paid for this experience, and I flew all the way out to Colorado for it because I believe, just like my clients do, that hiring someone to guide you is one of the best investments you can make. Why? Because you’re essentially buying speed to reach your goals faster. And to me, that’s the ultimate investment. You can always make more money, but you can never make more time. So, if there’s a shortcut to success that involves learning from the best, I’m all in!
After our intense (and incredibly insightful) session, he threw out a spontaneous challenge: “Let’s go do the Manitou Incline now!” Now, I’m usually up for a spur-of-the-moment adventure, but I was NOT prepared for this. I didn’t even have any water with me! (Amateur move right!).
Picture this: 2,744 steps straight up the mountain. An average 45% incline, with some parts hitting a staggering 68%. All at an elevation of 2,000 feet. My lungs were burning, my legs were screaming, and every step felt like a battle.
I pushed through, fired up by the revelations from our business session. The incline was incredibly hard, but I was up for the challenge because I was buzzing with new ideas and confirmation that Elite is on the right path.
He acknowledged that Elite is indeed headed in the right direction, and he gave me some fantastic actionable insights to implement that will undoubtedly propel the business forward.
This trip truly reinforced my belief that investing in your fitness, education, your mindset, and seeking help from those who have achieved what you aspire to, are some of the absolute best investments you can make. The return on investment isn’t just a few percent; it can be 10x, possibly even more. It’s not just about money; it’s about clarity, confidence, and cutting years off your journey to success. I just wished I would have hired him years ago.
So, here’s to pushing our limits, both in business and on mountain inclines!
What are you investing in to buy yourself some speed to your goals? Please share, I would love to hear about it.
P.S. I also went up to the summit of Pikes Peak (In a car though). It was freezing & it was windy (34 degrees). I was not prepared for that either- I wore shorts LOL.
